Background

My name is Alaina O’Neill, and I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in Pennsylvania. I provide virtual therapy to support accessibility and flexibility for the clients I work with. I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals, and I’ve spent a lot of time supporting women through major life transitions. With a background in childcare, much of my experience has involved supporting mothers as their families grow and responsibilities shift. This background has given me a strong understanding of the pressures that can come with evolving identities.

My approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. I believe there’s value in how each person sees themselves, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. It’s common to lose touch with the strengths that make you who you are, especially during stressful or uncertain times. My goal isn’t to immediately change how someone views themselves, but to help them reconnect with those strengths and better understand how internalized beliefs have helped navigate difficult moments. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

In addition to my clinical work, I co-facilitate alongside faculty at Thomas Jefferson University, where I’m passionate about supporting the development of future counselors through an advocacy and social justice lens. Outside of work, I’m usually goofing around with my corgi, Goose, baking, or unwinding with my favorite TV shows and listening to jazz music.
