Background

Hi, I’m Carly, and I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor working with clients in Pennsylvania. I strive to create a safe and affirming therapeutic space where clients can feel empowered and heard. Though I work with clients with a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, I specialize in working with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), prolonged grief, and trauma. I also have a background working with caregivers and chronic illness, as well as a passion for working with women and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

My work utilizes evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response prevention (ERP), and integrates skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In our work, my goal is to help clients learn to sit with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without becoming stuck in them, develop new and effective coping strategies, and make meaningful change in line with their values. With a dedicated interest in grief and trauma, I also work with clients to explore where and how they make meaning in the face of loss.

My philosophy as a therapist is highly collaborative. I believe that clients are the experts of their own stories and should play an active role in the direction of their care. Operating from a trauma-informed lens, working to promote my client’s autonomy both inside and outside of session is paramount. I welcome feedback from my clients to ensure that our work together is best serving their goals and take a holistic approach that considers the unique and individual
needs of each client.

Outside of my clinical work, I am a researcher with the Mental Health Toolbox Project at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education helping to create resources and strategies to support schools, students, families, and communities. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cross stitch, video games, and watching movies with my partner and our cats.
