Background

Hi, I’m Mal, and I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling and a concentration in Trauma Studies from Eastern University. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I partner with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, church hurt, and challenges related to identity, relationships, and personal growth. I specialize in working with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community and those navigating spiritual trauma, creating space for clients to explore their experiences and reconnect with themselves.

My approach to therapy is client-centered, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe each person brings a unique story, and I strive to meet clients where they are while honoring their individual needs, strengths, and goals. I integrate approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response prevention (ERP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and somatic work to help clients better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, and develop tools that support lasting growth and well-being.

I believe healing is not linear, and every step forward matters, even when progress feels small. Therapy can be a space to explore the parts of ourselves we may not fully understand, make sense of past experiences, and find the courage to use our voices. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward meaningful change and envision a life that feels authentic to them. I see my role as walking alongside clients, offering guidance and support as they navigate challenges, build on their strengths, and discover new possibilities for themselves.

Outside of the therapy room, I am a mom to 1 little one. I value creativity, dance, and personal growth. Additionally, I love reading books, spending time with my partner and with my cats.
